The outer fabric is a medium weight 100% organic cotton canvas. The top boasts our hand-dyed Straight Stitch pattern in natural indigo created using a Nui Shibori technique, while the bottom is a solid indigo. The vegetable-tanned leather strap will last for years to come and will continue to soften and develop a beautiful patina as it ages.

Every bag is hand dyed in my Lakefield, ON studio using natural dyes. The use of the traditional Japanese shibori dye technique creates diverse patterns that make every tote bag unique.
Design Techniques Nui Shibori
The fabric used in this bag has been hand dyed in our Lakefield area studio using the traditional Japanese shibori technique of Ori-Nui. In this process, sewing stitches are set into fabric, pulled tight and dyed. The resist is the compression pressure of the fabric. After dyeing, the thread is removed to expose linear patterns that vary with the type of stitch used.Colour
